I am a licensed therapist who specializes in issues that affect children, teens, and their families. I have devoted my practice to working with children and their families and I have committed myself to the education, knowledge, and experience of childhood issues. I have worked in a variety of in-patient and out-patient settings, including hospital, school, private practice, and in-home settings. Interventions include cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and family therapy. I received my Bachelor's in Psychology from Calvin College and my Master's in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Raising children can be difficult, especially when they present with social-emotional, cognitive, behavioral, or learning challenges. I work collaboratively with families, schools, and other clinicians to develop practice interventions and programs for children.
I offer individual, family and play therapy services for children and their families. I provide a fun, interactive environment for children to explore and express their feelings. I work with the family to develop a plan that addresses their unique needs and concerns. I offer a play therapy room that creates a fun, comfortable therapy experience for your child.
The following is a partial list of issues which I am experienced in providing therapeutic services: ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, divorce/loss, disruptive behaviors, educational advocacy, family issues, family stressors, parent support, and social skills building.
On a personal note, I moved to Austin from North Carolina in 2009 and have since started a family and settled in the Round Rock area. My husband and I have two young boys who keep us active and youthful. I am actively involved in children's ministry at my church and enjoy the opportunity to work with young people. I also enjoy kayaking, traveling and exploring Austin's great food options.
